The International Cross 2009 is a solo bicycle ride from Deadhorse, Alaska to Key West, Florida.  The journey is 6,150 miles long and should take about 77 days to complete.  The event will start at midnight CDT of June 1st, 2009 and should be completed by August 16th, 2009.  I estimate that this project will cost nearly $30,000, which I will be providing myself.  As for myself, I know that this project will affect me in such a way that I cannot even comprehend at this time.  I have always loved to dream and make challenges for myself.  This event will definitely have its challenges good and bad.  So, here I start a new chapter in my life.  This website has all the information about the ride itself and plans for the future of this project with One Heartland.

     The length of this trip will include riding through the states and providences of Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Lousinana , Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.  About 3,100 miles of the ride is in mountainous territory.  There are several mountain passes to conquer, which the highest is above 11,000 feet in Colorado.  In late July,  I will be heading into the southern states where daily highs in the 90s are common with plenty of humidity.

     I am so pleased to bring this event to One Heartland.  One Heartland has agreed to work with the promotional stage of this event.  Now this website is being created for people to track the events of the ride, postings of sponsors, a huge picture gallery with journal entries, and fundraising news for One Heartland.  Because of my donation to cover the journey itself,  One Heartland will see the maximum benefit of every dollar raised.

     Now, I can start this journey to help One Heartland grow!  Personally, I am so excited to be part of the One Heartland family.  This camp for over a decade has united children that have been infected, or affected by HIV and AIDS.  There is no better place to meet new friends and become part of such a wonderful family.  Give these kids a chance to find their strengths.  With your sponsorship to this event, we can inspire these children to find strength in themselves and in each other.
